Follow the teams competing for a $30 million USD prize to land a rover on the Moon by 2017.
The Moon has captivated the imagination of mankind since the very beginning of the human race, and now, Google is providing a hefty incentive for anyone to respond to the call of the Moon. The Google Lunar XPRIZE is a competition that promises a prize of $30 million USD, awarded to entrepreneurial teams that are able to land a privately funded rover on the surface of our celestial neighbor, travel 500 meters and transmit high-def video and images back to Earth. Directed by Orlando von Einsiedel and produced by J.J. Abrams, the nine-part Moon Shot web series will take an intimate look at the lives of the members of nine teams, investigating why they have chosen to sacrifice everything, and what drives them to achieve their dream of reaching the Moon. You can watch Moon Shot on Google Play on March 15, and on YouTube from March 17 onwards.
