Nick Von Werssowetz Releases "Vacancy" Skate Video
Indie skate videographer Nick Von Werssowetz drops a gritty gem for the New York streets.
It’s hard to be original in New York. For a city with a penchant for attracting the world’s best talent, trend-hopping and repetition is rife across all industries. Skateboarding is a particular discipline that prides itself on originality, yet many skaters today remain confined within a few square meters of concrete and granite without ever really exploring the rest of the Big Apple. Burgeoning indie skate videographer Nick Von Werssowetz and his crew represent the antithesis of that. Through his New York Times video series, as well as a full-fledged video dubbed Strangers, Von Werssowetz has been creating a buzz over the past few years by turning a microscope to the myriad opportunities that exist on every corner. In his latest clip, dubbed “Vacancy,” the videographer follows suit, filming rising talents like Stu Kirst, Phil Rodriguez and Jacob Gottlieb applying a creative twist to street skating.
