At the 57th GRAMMY Awards, Pharrell performed the Despicable Me 2 smash hit ”Happy.” Just as you thought you’ve seen all the possible renditions of the delightfully infectious number, Pharrell gives us a surprisingly dark and brooding makeover. Paying respects to Trayvon Martin in their black hoodies, Pharrell and his backup dancers also incorporated the “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” gesture in their choreography. The repertoire, in its full, enlisted a little help from renowned composer Hans Zimmer, world famous pianist Lang Lang and of course, Pharrell’s usual choice of interesting headwear.
