Interstellar might have taken home the Oscar for Visual Effects last night, but nominee Dawn of the Planet of the Apes undoubtedly had some of the most impressive visuals of the year. Led by senior visual effects supervisor Joe Letteri, the film features an impressive mix of real world actors and computer graphics, using innovative or new technology to create the desired outcome. Letteri has worked on some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters, including Man of Steel, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and the revolutionary Avatar, and in this interview talks about his passion for visual effects and the painstaking process involved in making visual effects come to life.
