A German college collective at Hasso-Plattner Institute have created the Protopiper, a handheld device that produces rigid tubes using packing tape. Demonstrated in the video, such an invention would allow a perspective user to pre-plan where objects may lay in their apartments/houses before moving furniture in. The real brilliance lies in the idea that you could recreate objects to scale, eliminating the fear of whether a couch would fit on your back wall or whether your bed will fit in the bedroom.
