There was a time when ‘plastic gun’ was synonymous with ‘toy,’ yet today that terminology has been permanently altered as Defense Distributed releases the world’s first 3D-printed gun. The Texas-based project/non-profit is dedicated to producing designs for guns to be created via 3D printing machines, having successfully used a Stratasys Dimension SST to do so. Composed of 16 parts, the only non-printable component is a metal piece that makes “The Liberator” metal-detectable per U.S. law. “The Liberator” is now publicly downloadable through Defense Distributed’s website, and yes, they accept Bitcoin.
