The Aliante Bookshelf is a project developed for the Carbon Fiber Design Contest whose aim was to promote the use of the material – with its intrinsic characteristics of strength and lightness. The idea behind the Aliante Bookshelf was to create a low air-resistance piece of furniture, with the inspiration coming from aeronautics (“aliante” is the Italian word for “glider”) with a shape of the shelves reminding those looking at it of wings on an aircraft. One part piece of art, another part fully functional shelving unit with built in bookends, the Aliante Bookshelf from Davide Anzalone is truly a marvel.
