You might know Junior Clint‘s eponymous Manchester-based label Clints from HYPEBEAST’s recent roundup of the best emerging British brands of 2022, but now the brand is taking it to the next level with its Patta collaboration which simultaneously introduces its latest sneaker, the Stepper.

Clints began producing limited-run pieces that sold out to its loyal roster of fans, often delivering retro-inspired sneakers and complementing apparel for an IYKYK crowd. However, the cosign from Patta now takes Clints to new heights, and these two Black-owned businesses are here to disrupt the footwear industry.

The Stepper is reminiscent of late ’90s and early noughties skateboarding sneakers, presented in “Brown/Teal Green/Black” with various nods to styles of the past. Canvas has been used for the upper base before being overlayed with suede panels, while Patta’s insignia graces the lateral mid-panel alongside Clints’ signature on the front quarter. Further Clints branding is embossed into the sole unit, and more Patta logos appear on the leather tongue tag which hides the interior stash pocket on the tongue. Rounding out the shoe is the translucent outsole that combines Clints’ logo with Patta scripture.

Clints is a brand that speaks to the current British streetwear scene and those a part of it. Its story is authentic — originally starting because of Junior Clint’s love of design and dissatisfaction with the saturated streetwear market — and so is its look, as the Clints aesthetic is distinctive thanks to its unique EVA midsole development and aforementioned aesthetic cues.

The Patta x Clints Stepper retails for £165 GBP (approx. $215 USD) and is set to drop on March 18 via a raffle on Clints’ website, in store at Patta London, and at a Clints Manchester pop-up. Take a closer look at the pair above.

In other news, Stone Island Shadow Project has dropped a sandal.
