Keith Haring est sans doute indissociable de New York, mais une nouvelle exposition à60 White regarde au-delà du Lower Manhattan pour explorer l’impact de l’artiste à l’échelle mondiale.

Actuellement présentée à Tribeca, Keith Haring: A World in Motionest pensée par Carlo McCormick, en collaboration avec le fondateur de la galerie, Lio Malca. Déployée sur plusieurs étages, l’exposition réunit des œuvres créées à New York, Tokyo, Paris, Milan et San Francisco, retraçant la manière dont Haring a diffusé son langage visuel à travers les continents tout en restant profondément lié aux communautés croisées en chemin.

Parmi les temps forts, des œuvres issues du projet 1985 Sister Cities mené entre New York et Tokyo, un dessin à la craie réalisé en 1984 dans la station de métro Alma–Marceau à Paris, ainsi que la fresque DV8 en cinq panneaux créée à San Francisco deux ans plus tard. Ensemble, ces œuvres révèlent un artiste en perpétuel mouvement, faisant de l’espace public à la fois sa toile et un terrain de dialogue.

Au cœur de l’exposition, une reconstitution intégrale du mythique club DV8 de San Francisco. Cette installation s’inscrit dans l’intérêt constant de Haring pour l’idée d’abolir les frontières entre l’art et le quotidien. Qu’il investisse les stations de métro, les clubs ou les rues, son travail a toujours été pensé pour aller à la rencontre des gens, là où ils se trouvent.

« Haring n’a pas simplement parcouru le monde : il est entré en dialogue avec lui », confie McCormick.
