Radiohead - Interview & Performance on The Colbert Report

Stephen Colbert’s Comedy Central television program, The Colbert Report, doesn’t usually feature a live musical performance like many other late night competitors. Instead, Colbert typically sits down with such figures as authors, politicians and activists to discuss what they are making press about. This past Tuesday, however, the show took an interesting direction by putting nearly its entire focus on renowned English band Radiohead. Frontman Thom Yorke and Colbert may seem to have contrasting personalities, but for whatever reason Yorke decided to let the 47-year-old political satirist grill him and his bandmates on everything from corporate sponsorship to fellow British musicians and hipster haircuts. In addition to the interview, Radiohead also picked up their instruments and performed tracks from their February 2011 album, King of Limbs, including “Bloom” and “Little By Little,” along with “The National Anthem” from 2000’s Kid A and the yet-to-be-released “Daily Mail.” Below, watch the full episode and an additional web-only visual of the band playing King of Limbs’ “Morning Mr Magpie” on The Colbert Report stage.
