NLE Choppa Makes First Foray into Latin Music with "Catalina"
Taking “an unpredictable” approach to his imminent new music.
As he still relishes in “SL*T ME OUT 2”‘s success – which he knows still hasn’t run its course completely quite yet – NLE Choppa has released another high-energy cut that takes a totally different form than its predecessor. Entitled “Catalina,” the new single signals Choppa’s first entry in Latin-inspired music, enlisting rising Dominican rapper Yaisel LM to contribute to the vocals.
“‘Catalina’ is an entirely different market than what I’ve been doing before,” Choppa told Hypebeast.
“My current approach to my music is ‘unpredictable,’” he adds. “I want people to keep guessing, ‘what is he gonna do?’”
While Choppa handles the first verse of the bilingual track, Yaisel LM hops on for the second, spitting bars in Spanish to close out the dynamic offering – which arrives in the middle of A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie‘s Better Off Alone Tour, on which Choppa serves as a supporting act.
As for the visual, the duo dons vibrant workwear sets – possibly selected by Choppa himself, who oftentimes styles himself for concerts of any caliber. “I take fashion very seriously,” he shared, most recently suiting up in head-to-toe LANVIN for the sold-out MSG show.
