Eddie Murphy Returns as Detective Axel Foley in ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ Reboot Film
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige and Kevin Bacon make their debut in the action-comedy franchise.
Eddie Murphy is reprising his role as Detective Axel Foley for the fourth installment in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, 30 years after Beverly Hills Cop III. The movie was initially greenlit in the mid-’90s but ultimately abandoned. Another attempt aimed to bring it to life in 2006 but also wound up fizzling out.
Finally making it to screens, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F will see Foley make a long-awaited return to Los Angeles after a threat is made on his estranged daughter’s life. Foley joins forces with his daughter Jane (Taylour Paige), who works as a criminal defense attorney, along with Jane’s ex-boyfriend, Detective Bobby Abbott (Joseph Gordon-Levitt). Together, the three begin unraveling a sprawling, action-packed conspiracy that takes them across Los Angeles.
Joining the cast alongside Paige and Gordon-Levitt are Judge Reinhold and Kevin Bacon. John Ashton returns to the franchise, the former Detective John Taggart, who is now working as a sergeant. Paul Reiser is also reprising his role as Detective Jeffrey Friedman, Foley’s former partner in Beverly Hills Cop II.
