Chet Lo Welcomes You Into Its Dark Side for FW23

Sultry and demure, yet dangerous.

Chet Lo kept us on our toes for their Fall/Winter 2023 London Fashion Week presentation. Debuting a diversion from their own norms, Lo served up House signatures like puckered and three-dimension fabrics, only this time it was subverted in a moody vein.

Previously, the designer opted for a splash of color, body-hugging dresses and revealing sheer qualities. This was not the case for FW23, as Lo goes against the box the industry has placed them in. Instead, the tight dress that peaked all over opened the show in a somber black tone, welcoming following looks that complemented the mood.

A cardigan cut from the designer’s signature fabric changed up the shapes with a shrunken fit and a floating placket, while leather laser-cut trousers revealed a red inner panel, as if the rebellious nature was peaking through. Later on, menswear developed the black and red palette with gradient 3D cropped tops and trousers spliced to reveal the colorful secrets beneath, and again in womenswear, the designer played with laser-cut triangles to create an optical illusion of red pockets underneath the black body.

Shaking things up, T-shirts sported anime eyes (again in an evil-emulating shade of red), while a new sporty House graphic adorned the rear of necklines and bottoms on ribbed dresses and tops. For a final flair, models took the step-and-repeat to stop, pose, and enjoy their demure and simultaneously dangerous looks, with some caressing their bodies and other sticking their tongues out to reveal a mouth full of dye.
