Supermarket Chain Lidl Stages a Household Appliance-Themed Runway Show

Plugging into the Fashion Month calendar with looks that incorporate some of its best-selling appliances and home essentials.

Fashion Week is typically a serious affair, so a Lidl bit of fun is always welcome. Indeed, for one of the most unexpected plot twists of the year, the affordable supermarket chain Lidl has hosted its own fashion show in its infamous middle aisle — a space where you can buy everything from BBQs and rice cookers to garden rakes, toolboxes, and even its own range of sneakers.

Following up on the sneakers, Lidl now showcases yet another genius marketing tactic just one day before the start of London Fashion Week FW23. For the looks, the supermarket styles sold-out buys like its air fryer and best-sellers like its iron, hand blender, pots, pans, and more alongside oddities like heavy-duty gloves and rope.

The household essentials are then intertwined with genuine fashion looks — tailored shirts and trousers held up with a plug acting as suspenders, a dress that looks as if its made from upcycled Hogwarts tea towels, and a hot pink taffeta gown all take to the makeshift middle aisle runway.

Elsewhere, blue body suits are taped up, while a clear plastic poncho number is paired with boots, used as the platform for which the air fryer sits upon.

Lidl’s marketing is second-to-none and often gets people talking. Guess we’re all going to run down to our nearest supermarket for that big appliance restock.
