Indonesia kedatangan brand deodoran dengan spirit dan tampilan yang fresh bernama Baeroll. Brand yang berfokus di lineup skincare ini berawal dari daily struggle sang founder, Della, buat nyari deodoran yang cocok dengan iklim tropis dan karakteristik kulit orang Asia. Setelah ngelakuin banyak riset tentang bahan-bahan alami yang aman di kulit, akhirnya Della ngerilis produk perdana Baeroll yang terbuat dari tumbuhan tropis, Kaolin, Glycerin, ekstrak Aloe Vera, dan Hops Extract.

HB: Hi Del, gimana awalnya lo bisa come up dengan Baeroll?
My personal struggle to find natural deodorant yang cocok buat gue di Indo. At that time, local natural deo di indo masih banyak yang wax-based, dan form-nya either a liquid roll-on or spray. Dan gue personally lebih prefer solid deo, because they tend to last longer and are easier to use.
HB: Baeroll bisa dibilang tercipta di tengah pandemi. Gimana lo ngatur ini semua mulai dari product development, branding, sampai distribution plan? Apa challenge terbesar yang lo hadapi?
I was still working 9 to 5 whilst developing the idea, and since it was in the middle of the pandemic, everything was done remotely. So that’s why we don’t have footage of brainstorming, product formulation, or factory visits. However, we can assure you that creating a business remotely needs communication across stakeholders to make it happen. Communication is key.
The hardest challenge? I would say to have the sanity and patience to wait until I found the best formulation for the product, and not to mention if you are starting, not many people will take you seriously. You have to be able to show that what you are doing is legit, not only another fun business idea. And definitely negotiating every penny I could; the higher the margin, the better!
HB: Baeroll punya proposition buat encourage orang untuk stay active, apa sih definisi ‘active’ Baeroll ini?
Active to us is anything you do while moving your body; regardless of how small or big the activity is, neither you sweat nor not does matter. Active to us is moving the needle forward; active to us is making progress. And of course, having fun!
We tested our product in many ways, from lifting the heaviest weights at the gym, dancing ourselves off on the dance floor, working from home, and as simple as cleaning the house!
HB: Please share your thoughts on an ethically-conscious brand! Why should people care about it?
I believe ethically conscious brands should be accessible to everyone, both pricing and access to the product. And I want this to be reflected through Baeroll. Moreover, I think consumers are starting to switch to consuming ethically conscious brands if they have the options to do so.
HB: In the next three years, gimana lo melihat Baeroll? Regarding product range, sub-brand, or any plan to open stores in Jakarta or Bali?
To be honest, we have three SKU lines up already, even before our first product launch! The main focus will still be on armpit care for the deodorant. They do deserve more love! Just wait for our next product launch, maybe next year. Regarding our sales channel, what is ideal for us now is to strengthen our DTC channel and enter retail in our second year.
Opening a store maybe not be soon, but it would be exciting to have a pop-up store for brand activation.
