Die diesjährigen Gewinner:innen’s Sony World Photography Awards stehen fest. Die Sieger:innen 2026 wurden aus über 430.000 Einreichungen aus 200 Ländern und Regionen ausgewählt, und das finale Line-up zeigt das Beste, was die Fotografie zu bieten hat – von unter 19-Jährigen’s bis zu Profis – in einer atemberaubenden visuellen Hommage an die Vielschichtigkeit der Menschheit’s vielen Facetten.

Citlali Fabián sicherte sich den Titel Photographer of the Year, die höchste Auszeichnung des Wettbewerbs’s, für ihre Serie „Bilha, Stories of my Sisters.“ Mit einer Verbindung aus digitaler Illustration und Porträtkunst ist die Serie eine Hommage an die Frauen der indigenen Yalalteca-Gemeinschaft im Süden Mexikos, rückt ihre Errungenschaften und Erfahrungen in den Fokus und möchte die nächste Generation inspirieren.

Zu den weiteren Gesamtsieger:innen zählt die australische Fotografin Elle Leontiev, die mit der Arbeit „The Barefoot Volcanologist,“ den Sieg in der Open-Kategorie holte – sowie Student Photographer of the Year Jubai Ahmed Arnob aus Bangladesch, ausgezeichnet für seine traumwandlerischen Landschaftsstudien angesichts urbaner Verdrängung in „The Place Where I Used to Play.“ Währenddessen räumte Philip Kangas aus Schweden in der Youth-Kategorie ab – mit einer journalistischen Aufnahme von Feuerwehrleuten, die ein Gemälde aus einem Brand in Stockholm’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts retten.

Abseits der Spitzenplätze haben uns im gesamten Wettbewerb eindringliche Kompositionen und stille, berührende Szenen in ihren Bann gezogen. Dazu gehören unter anderem die Stories von Documentary Project’s Gewinner Santiago Mesa und seine Recherche über Kokabäuer:innen sowie Todd Antony’s Aufnahmen von Tajikistan’s uralter Pferdesportart Buzkashi, die in der Kategorie Sports ausgezeichnet wurden. Ein filmisch anmutender Morgenmoment von Myanmar’s jungen Fischern von Kyaw Zayar Lin und ein magazintaugliches Schwarz-Weiß-Duettporträt von Obaroh Oghenemairo – beide mit National Awards für Myanmar bzw. Nigeria ausgezeichnet – gehören ebenfalls zu den Highlights, die man nicht’ verpassen sollte.
