Nachdem er lange um konkrete Details zur Albumveröffentlichung herumgetanzt ist, hat Drake nun endlich offiziell dieICEMAN-Kampagne gestartet und das Release Date wohl auf spektakulärste Weise seiner bisherigen Karriere enthüllt.

Drake ließ auf dem Parkplatz des Bond Hotel mitten in Downtown Toronto eine riesige Eisskulptur errichten, an deren Fuß ein Zettel mit dem Release Date steckt. Er ließ es groß aufziehenund lieferte komplett ab.

Die Enthüllung der Eis-Pyramide in Toronto bringt auch mehr Klarheit in Drakes Instagram-Story von letzter Nacht. Er teilte einen Screenshot eines iMessage-Chats, in dem er die Nachricht „It’s in“ zusammen mit einem Bild von zwei Eisblöcken verschickte. Das löste reichlich Spekulationen aus, er habe damit verraten, dass das finale Album abgegeben sei – inzwischen ist klar: Er spielte auf das Release Date an.

Zur Einordnung: Letzte Woche waren in Toronto Explosionen zu hören, die laut Instagram-Stories von DJ Akademiks, Anthony Fantano und Drake selbst auf den Dreh des „Project Bot“-Musikvideos hindeuteten.

Noch ein Stück weiter zurück: Drizzy hatICEMANletzten Juli erstmals offiziell mit einer Reihe vonICEMAN-Livestreams vorgestellt. In diesen drei Streams feierten „What Did I Miss“ mit Central Cee, „Which One“, ebenfalls mit Central Cee, und „DOG HOUSE“ mit Yeat und Julia Wolf ihre Live-Premiere.
