COMME des GARÇONS hat die Wiedereröffnung seines Stores in Kyoto mit einem markanten Redesign und einem besonderen Showcase gefeiert. Ursprünglich 2002 als zweiter Street-Level-Store der Marke in Japan eröffnet, liegt der Standort weiterhin verborgen in einem ruhigen, historischen Viertel nahe der Oike-dori. Unter der direkten kreativen Vision von Rei Kawakubo wurde der Raum auf drei Etagen erweitert – das Interieur wandelte sich radikal vom einst dunkel gehaltenen „Freezer“-Konzept zu einem lichtdurchfluteten Setting, das in starkem Kontrast zur ikonischen, tiefschwarzen Fassade des Gebäudes steht.

Das neu gestaltete Flagship fungiert nun als umfassender Hub für das CDG-Universum. Im ersten und zweiten Stock sind von Kawakubo entworfene Linien wie HOMME PLUS, PLAY und die Hauptkollektion für Damen zu finden, während das dritte Stockwerk erstmals Labels wie tao, noir kei ninomiya und JUNYA WATANABE nach Kyoto bringt.

Die Linie setzte auf eine genderlose, universelle Ausstrahlung und präsentierte monochrome, geschichtete Silhouetten, dekonstruiertes Tailoring und das subversive Spiel mit Proportionen, das die BLACK Sub-Linie definiert.
