The INSTAX MINI 99 is Fujifilm's Latest Point-and-Shoot Camera
Featuring multiple shooting modes and creative effects including double and long exposures.
Fresh off the back of its record-breaking X100VI launch, Fujifilm has shifted gears with the release of the INSTAX MINI 99 – one of its most advanced instant cameras to date.
The INSTAX MINI 99 is a small but mighty instant analogue shooter and comes packed with features like brightness control, special colour effects and various shooting modes. The Japanese company has been in the photography business since 1934 and its latest instant camera has all the retro charm fans of the brand have come to love, like turn knobs for its controls providing a tactile experience that’s both immersive and aesthetically pleasing. Adding to this is a classic boxy design that harks back to cameras of times past, along with a physical lens dial that users turn to select shooting mode and a nostalgic Instax Image Control logo.
Classic aesthetics aside, the INSTAX MINI 99 is very much a modern instant camera. It features a ‘Colour Effect Dial’ that lets users choose from six different looks for their photos, including Faded Green, Warm Tone, Light Blue, Soft Magenta, Sepia and Light Leak. This little bit of magic is achieved through a set of internal LED lights that – depending on the user’s selection – expose certain colours onto the film, creating the user’s chosen effect. Additionally, the INSTAX MINI 99 features a ‘Manual Vignette Switch’ that users can flick on and off to add a vignette effect on to their photos.
Other features on the INSTAX MINI 99 include four different shooting modes, each of which is tailored to different situations or creative effects. These include ‘Indoor Mode’ for low light situations; ‘Sports Mode’ that speeds up the camera’s shutter, allowing users to capture fast-moving action; a self-explanatory ‘Double Exposure Mode’; as well as a ‘Bulb Mode’, letting users choose how long to keep the shutter open, perfect for long exposures. Like most instant cameras, the camera adopts a zone focus system and the INSTAX MINI 99 has three set ranges, with the shortest being ‘Macro’ (0.3m to 0.6m) and the longest known as ‘Landscape’ (3.0m to infinity). All distances in between use the ‘Standard’ mode setting. For more creative occasions, users can utilize the built-in self-timer and flash, as well take advantage of the included ‘Base Grip’ that allows the camera to be mounted to a tripod. With this launch, Fujifilm has also updated its INSTAX UP! app on both iOS and Android – it’s free, and let’s users digitally scan and share their photos.
The INSTAX MINI 99 is launching April 4 and will be priced at £174.99 GBP.
