Following last weekend’s teaser from DSML’s Instagram account, the Rei Kawakubo and Adrian Joffe-conceived concept store Dover Street Market has officially unveiled its New Balance Made in U.K. 991 collaboration.

Crafted in New Balance’s U.K. factory in Flimby, Cumbria, this very special release marks the 40-year milestone of New Balance’s manufacturing in the United Kingdom. As a result, the pair comes loaded with only the finest materials and premium details, but as per the DSM formula, nothing is quite as simple as just adding luxury elements.

Dover Street Market reinterprets New Balance’s signature gray hue, of course using premium nubuck, mesh, and synthetic details, but darkens the hue per DSM’s minimal aesthetic. Creamy tan leather works the toe box, tongue, heel, and parts of the sole unit, while DSM branding has been embroidered into the tongue and heel in the 991’s signature font, with further 991 branding adorning the alternate heel.

Naturally, the “N” emblem appears on the lateral mid-panel, here in a silver hue, while further house-shaped DSM branding can be found inside the shoe on the sock liner alongside the commemorative 40th-anniversary stamp. Rounding things out is the sole unit, which features an ABZORB window in the forefoot and beneath the heel.

Take a look at the Dover Street Market x New Balance Made in U.K. 991 above, and pick up a pair from DSM stores worldwide and online on April 14. The pair retails for £210 GBP (approx. $273 USD).
