A Sotheby’s anunciou a linha de programação para o primeiro leilão internacional na Arábia Saudita em 8 de fevereiro. Intitulado “Origins”, o leilão acontecerá em Diriyah, um Patrimônio Mundial da UNESCO próxima a Riad, coincidindo com a inauguração da nova filial da casa na Al Faisaliah Tower, projetada por Norman Foster.O leilão promete uma mistura eclética de obras de artistas ocidentais e árabes, juntamente com itens de luxo e memorabilia esportiva. Aproveitando o impulso do centenário do Surrealismo no ano passado, os destaques do evento serão “L’État de veille” (1958) de René Magritte e a escultura “Man on Horse” de Fernando BoteroMan on Horse cada uma avaliadas entre 1 a 1,5 milhões de dólares.Outros destaques incluem “On the Lookout” de George Condo e Elizabeth da série “Reigning Queens” de Andy Warhol, cujoReigning Queens roubo frustrado virou notícia no ano passado, juntamente com obras digitais, como uma pintura de paisagem gerada por IA de Refik Anadol e uma hipnotizante instalação de luz por James Turrell.
