Per Mercedes il 2026 è un vero hard reboot. La W17 è la prima risposta del team alla rivoluzione regolamentare che investe telaio, power unit e carburanti, e arriva come la “più grande rivoluzione tecnica nella storia di questo sport”. La monoposto è più corta, più stretta e più leggera delle generazioni precedenti, progettata attorno a un’aerodinamica attiva con ali anteriori e posteriori mobili e una power unit che offre una ripartizione quasi 50/50 tra potenza elettrica e termica, alimentata da carburanti sostenibili di nuova generazione.

Esteticamente, la W17 conserva l’iconica identità nero–argento di Mercedes ma ne affila l’attitudine. Una sinuosa linea verde Petronas guida lo sguardo dal muso alla coda, trasformando l’argento in un nero profondo, mentre i rombi ispirati ad AMG e il cofano motore costellato di stelle trasformano il branding in una vera dichiarazione di stile. I nuovi loghi Microsoft su airbox e alettone anteriore sanciscono una partnership pluriennale che va ben oltre la vernice, integrando simulazioni, modelli di strategia di gara e flussi di dati dal muretto con il cloud Azure e l’AI enterprise. In pista, le intenzioni sono altrettanto aggressive: Russell e Antonelli hanno già percorso quasi 200 km in un bagnatissimo filming day a Silverstone per validare i sistemi, prima dello shakedown a porte chiuse di Barcellona e dei doppi test in Bahrain. Dopo quattro anni senza titoli, Mercedes punta sul suo storico talento nel centrare i grandi reset regolamentari, sul cervello motoristico di Brixworth e ora sulla sua infrastruttura dati potenziata da Microsoft per provare a dominare la prossima era della F1, invece di inseguirla.
