Tanner Fletcher SS25 Envisions 'The Artist's Dilemma'

A masterful melange of menswear, womenswear and everything in between staged in a striking museum exhibit.

Tanner Fletcher knows how to put on a show – or, in this case, a museum exhibit. For the whimsical Brooklyn-based label’s Spring/Summer 2025 showcase, designers Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell staged a striking museum exhibit in a Chelsea gallery space, giving each of the looks its own individual stage, complete with thematic props and witty title placards.

Upon arrival, guests were instantly transported back a few decades and handed The Artist’s Dilemma newspaper – serving as Tanner Fletcher’s charming and creative take on collection notes. With the exhibition aiming to extrapolate the benefits of an artist’s dilemma – writer’s block, included – models were perched atop platforms throughout the whimsical all-white space, interacting with their props.

Entitled “Loves Me, Loves Me Not,” the first look attendees were privy to was a floor-length silk gown, donned by a model dropping white flower petals onto the ground. As guests continued on throughout the gallery, they were greeted by “Cat Lady” (accompanied by a ceramic cat tied to a silk leash), “First Day of School,” (equipped with a stack of books in hand), “Gym Rats” (stationed on a vintage workout bike) and “Gossiping on the Phone” (focused primarily on her conversation at-hand.) In a similar vein, “Finance Bro” is seen yelling on the phone, while “Secretary Sharpening Pencils” does just that.

Elsewhere, other models took The Artist’s Dilemma concept to a more literal sense, fixated on projects including miniature house painting, curating floral arrangements and working through writer’s block on the typewriter.

Craftsmanship was emphasized in a slew of the exhibition pieces as well, with “The Artist and Her Muse” – modeled by Dylan Mulvaney – focusing on an artist painting Mulvaney’s dress, and “Tailor Adorning Suit with Bows” and “The Yarn Winder” honing in on the intricacies of curating of the collection.

The collection’s two key pieces, per Richie’s on-site explanation, are the Artist’s Dilemma shirt and the Artist’s Dilemma ball gown, each of which encapsulates the ethos of the new ready-to-wear range.
