Rolf Ekroth Takes You on a Floral Reverie for SS25
Inspired by the “Lavatanssit” dances in the Finnish countryside.
Some people have a very clear plan early in life, point a to b to c lets say. Not Rolf Ekroth. Amongst many things, the former social worker-turned-poker player, pivoted to a more sartorial profession as he didn’t want to handle the emotional (not to mention financial) rigors of gambling. It’s a mysterious calling that the fashion world can be thankful for, as the Finnish designer brings a unique approach to gender neutral clothing that carries with it a penchant for technical sportswear imbued with storytelling that reflects his cultural background.
Ekroth’s Spring Summer 2025 collection, Lavatanssit, named after the quaint dances in the Finnish countryside, is portal into a floral reverie. Unveiled at the Poolen warehouse space during Copenhagen Fashion Week 2024, the line was set to a soundtrack of Finnish folk songs that provided an eclectic atmosphere as all-over dandelion prints, tartan patterns and camo motifs adorned technical outerwear, double-breasted blazers and life jackets that billowed into a dress.
One of the standouts within the show, a pair of blue denim jeans is meticulously crafted with 250 dandelions, which waved with a sense of dynamism, like wind blowing through a field of flowers. Puma Speedcat OG’s were vibrantly on display with each model as well, as were oversized knitwear — from cardigans to jumpers. Preview the full collection in the gallery above.
