Known for her avant-garde label Comme des Garçons and the international store Dover Street Market, Rei Kawakubo is easily one of the most foremost figures in fashion history and at the age of 81 years old, the Japanese designer is still turning the tides. Given her renowned reputation and notoriously elusive status, it’s an honor to see the designer let alone be contacted by her for any type of design work. Well, that’s the case of Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY as Kawakubo invited the designer to create a new celebratory range.

Kawakubo invited the British designer to craft a range of pieces for the renewal opening of Trading Museum CdG in October 2023 and for the April 2024 launch of Dover Street Market Paris. For the special range, the British designer tossed up eye-catching fine suits in British wool and Italian cotton that receive their fun character through Tartan holes, layered canvas, overexposed colors, applique dot patches and frayed edges.

Elsewhere in the range is a selection of jewelry that sees the designer’s “LOVERBOY creatures” across broaches, Scottish kilt pins and dog tag necklaces. The special range will be displayed in the “Rei Kawakubo Curates” section of the store which will also showcase other designers and items selected by Kawakubo.

Check out the range in the gallery above.
