Wagamama and Willy's Pies Fuse Cultural Dishes With Chicken Katsu Pies
Debuting chicken-filled and vegan options submerged in opulent condiments.
Pies have become synonymous with UK culture, with chefs nationwide packing flaky pastries with meats, vegetables, and cheeses. London-based eatery Willy’s Pies is shaking up the local pie scene with handmade dishes sealed with unpredictable fillings. After collaborating with Birmingham’s Bene Culture, Willy’s Pies joins Wagamama for a culture-fused recipe.
Wagamama and Willy’s Pies are gearing up to debut the Chicken Katsu Pie, merging British tradition with Japanese influence. The indulgent dish features tender chicken and local vegetables paired with Wagamama’s signature katsu sauce. The duo brings a thrilling approach to the staple UK favorite, accompanied by a vibrant katsu side salad and “pink pickles.”
The food pioneers are also debuting a plant-based option with tasty vegetables. The vegan crust is topped with spicy kimchi, overflowing with savory oyster mushrooms, smoky aubergine, and fresh edamame beans submerged in spicy condiments.
Take a closer look at the collaboration in the gallery above. The pie will be available across 19 Wagamama locations in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and more starting February 29. Fans can get their hands on select samples on the “Where’s Willy” tour, offering free samples nationwide.
