KEF has just announced the LSX II LT, the latest speakers in its high fidelity, cable-free LS Wireless Collection. The new LSX II LT is a smaller version of its award-winning LSX II model from 2022, but one that packs a similar punch at a lower price without sacrificing much in the way of features or sound quality.

For over six decades the British audio brand has built speakers for audiophiles, artists, and sound enthusiasts alike. Though, with its latest product the brand seems to be skewing towards attracting those looking for a way into the world of elevated audio. For starters, the speakers are small enough to be desktop-friendly and would look, feel, and sound just as at home in someone’s bedroom as they would on dedicated speaker stands. This reduction in size and price has not, however, resulted in a lesser audio experience: the brand has powered its new model with the same signature sound engine and proprietary Uni-Q drivers that feature in its more expensive models, the same ones that have helped it to build a cult-like following amongst audiophiles.

Thanks to a built-in streaming module – KEF’s W2 module, like that found on the previous speakers – users can play uncompressed, high quality music wirelessly on the LSX II LT. All of the popular streaming platforms are available including Tidal, Spotify, Qobuz and Deezer, and can be accessed via the accompanying KEF Connect app for iOS or Android. The speakers can be connected to the internet over Ethernet or Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0 is available as a smooth, easy way to connect to a plethora of devices. There are also three wired options for those after a more stable and latency-free connection; albeit, all three are digital (USB-C, HDMI ARC and TOSLINK) as the 3.5mm auxiliary connection found on the LSX II has not made it onto the LT model.

The speakers look as good as they sound. KEF has been working with the Hong Kong-based, British born industrial designer Michael Young for many years now and their partnership has continued with this latest release. Young’s clean and minimal aesthetic is unmistakable and the LSX II LT speakers come in three color options that include Graphite Grey, Stone White and Sage Green. The fabric finish found on the LSX II is gone, however, replaced by a simpler, all over matte material that makes up the bulk of the speaker.

Other features include the ability to use the speakers with AirPlay 2 and Chromecast, a universal 100-240 voltage for use internationally (though, to be clear, these are far from portable) and the speakers are relatively lightweight at 3.4kg (7.5lbs) each. Included in the box is a 3m (10ft) interspeaker cable and a handy remote control.

KEF’s LSX II LT speakers available now via the KEF website priced at £899 GBP / $999 USD / €999 EUR per pair.
