S.S. Daley Highlights British Artists and Workmen for SS24

London-based designer S.S. Daley has become synonymous with unique storytelling and historical menswear representing his British roots. Daley’s theatrical background is constantly pushed to the fore, often enlisting local creatives to debut his collections.

While Fall/Winter 2023 explored the designer’s great grandfather’s life at sea, Spring/Summer 2024 pays tribute to British artists and workmen. The collection focuses on artistic life and the uniforms worn in-studio, positioning models as sculptures beside naked men in abstract positions.

Daley began his research by studying the lives of British painters Lucien Freud and David Hockney in working environments. SS24 continues the designer’s research into British public school dress while examining the shifts in sexual identity in the early 1900s.

Clean-cut suiting is paired with pleated shorts, withering floral badges, and contrasting red stitching while blooming hydrangeas decorate striped workwear sets with an artistic finish. Oversized wool sweaters boast petite dog and duck embroidery that pay tribute to beloved artist pets alongside fruit bowl decor reminiscent of European still life paintings. Blue linen suiting and brown grooved variations honor British school uniforms, completing the collection with multi-pocketed coats splashed with purple, blue, and yellow paint.
