Edward Crutchley Resort 2024 Makes Medieval Attire Destined for the Circus

The London-based designer pulls back the reins to create more commercially accessible garments.

Edward Crutchley has made his mark as one of London’s most androgynous designers and continues to deliver unusual attire that require a second, third, or tenth glance. For his Resort 2024 collection, the two-time International Woolmark Prize winner offers a medieval take on formal and sportswear garments, with Crutchley pulling away from his usual roaring approach.

The UK designer stays true to his eye-catching ethos by using busy textiles from decades past while working to make his clothes more commercially accessible. For example, traditional form-fitting suits are slashed down the middle in black and white tones and have a playful personality.

Elsewhere, illustrative plants and geometrical shapes land on knitted tops paired with clownish trousers and faded decor. Gender has never stood in the way for Crutchley, and this season is no different. Men in ruffled dresses and leather vests stand their ground, while women rock the same looks with a genderless approach.
