Crenshaw Skate Club Takes LA to London With Help from Browns and FARFETCH BEAT 009
20 cut-and-sew garments and four skate decks arrive just in time for London Fashion Week SS24.
London Fashion Week SS24 is just a matter of days away, and in anticipation of the city’s sartorial showcase, many brands are gearing up for their moment under the spotlight. First up is Tobey McIntosh‘s South Central LA-based brand Crenshaw Skate Club, which has worked exclusively with Browns to release a capsule collection as part of FARFETCH BEAT 009.
The cut-and-sew collection comprises 20 pieces (and four skate decks) informed by CSC’s signature iconography and nuances, with an injection of London sensibilities co-informed by Californian ease. The result is, practically, a skateboarder’s uniform elevated to more luxurious heights — a muted beige three-piece ensemble, comprising a classic skate pant, a Harrington-style jacket, and a shirt, are all printed with the Crenshaw Square sign, combining elements of classic British style with So-Cal’s skate heritage.
Likewise, we find a black denim co-ord, and a black, green and red tie-dye workwear jacket with complementing straight-leg trousers, which work perfectly with CSC’s chain-wearing teddy bear hoodie, jorts, and selection of T-shirts.
Speaking on the collection, McIntosh said: “‘This collaboration with Browns for FARFETCH Beat is very special and symbolic of CSC’s next step into the world of cut and sew, which has been a goal of mine ever since I was a kid. With this exclusive, we’ve been able to take CSC’s message international which is to represent and empower inner-city skaters, and I hope that I can make inner-city skaters in other countries feel represented as well. The origin of CSC is hyperlocal, but the message can be applied to kids all over the world.”
