Manchester City Football Club and PUMA have just presented their brand-new home jersey for the 2023/24 season and it marks the 20th anniversary of the club’s historic move to the Etihad Stadium.

The new release from the club pays homage to the ground’s iconic features — such as the “B Of The Bang,” an infamous East Manchester sculpture that was designed to look like an exploding firework — and also takes inspiration from the jersey that was worn during City’s first season at the Etihad Stadium, formally known as the City of Manchester Stadium.

Following a historic 80 years at its previous ground of Maine Road, Manchester City moved just over three miles away to its new home following the Commonwealth Games that were held in Manchester in 2002. The move began a new era for the club, one that was catapulted into the footballing stratosphere when it was taken over by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008.

The new 2023/24 home jersey pays homage to the start of the new era that came alongside the club’s new ground. For example, the front of the kit is inspired by the unique architecture of the Etihad Stadium, in particular the four giant turrets that stand outside of the stadium that form the tonal stripes on the kit.

The Etihad’s postcode is then featured on the back of the shirt’s neck, while its V-neck collar pays homage to the first kit that was worn during the first season in the new ground. Furthermore, PUMA has integrated ULTRAWEAVE fabrics into the new strip, alongside a 4-way stretch design that reduces weight and friction.

Alongside the official player kit, City also welcomes a replica version which is made from 100% recycled polyester and complemented by dryCELL sweat-wicking technology to keep you dry and comfortable both on and off the pitch.

You can check out the new Manchester City jersey above and it is available to shop via the club’s official webstore and with PUMA retailers now.
