Leica Unveils the ZM Watch Monochrom Edition

Drawing inspiration from its M11 Monochrom camera, Leica has revealed two new watches that honor the aesthetic essence of black and white photography.

Arriving in a minimalist design, Leica’s ZM Watch Monochrom Edition omits all metallic hues and colors, except for its signature red dot on the push-crown. Understated and nuanced, the 48mm timepieces are encased in PVD-coated stainless steel that emanates incredible details and depths when hit by light. This also complements the dial, which is crafted from high-strength aluminum and plated in black rhodium.

Adding to its sleek and sturdy aesthetics are diamond-polished indices, black lacquered second hand, as well as anti-reflective and scratch-resistance sapphire crystal. On top of that, thick and strong-grained black calf leather is used to craft the watch straps — another subtle but faithful nod to the M11 Monochrom camera’s sturdy straps.

Retailing for £9,900 (approximately $12,365 USD), The ZM 1 operates on its namesake calibre complete with date display, quick date setting, power reserve, and mode indicators. Meanwhile, the ZM 2 will be priced at £13,300 (approximately $16,612 USD) with the additional second-time zone GMT function, and day/night indicator.
