Ed Sheeran Is Swallowed By Waves In "Boat" Music Video
Referencing the singer’s battle with depression.
The release of Ed Sheeran‘s fifth studio album Subtract is fast approaching, slated for release on May 5, 2023. The British artist has just dropped an all-new single and music video, debuting the first song he ever penned for the record.
Titled “Boat,” the song continues to explore Sheeran’s battle with depression and is placed against slow-beat guitar melodies that supply a thoughtful background to the somber lyrics. The music video sees Sheeran hit the UK shore as he enters the ocean and is swallowed by hostile waves. As the finale approaches, dozens of broken items are thrown into the water, flying over the musician’s head as he sings the chorus, “Maybe I won’t, but the waves won’t break my boat.”
