Umbro and MTV Look to UK Rave Culture for Debut Collaboration

Crafting a fresh uniform slated for the dancefloor.

Fashion

Following its “Penalty Culture” collaboration with Slam Jam, British label Umbro has united with American video channel MTV for a football-focused range slated for the dancefloor. The offering reflects Umbro’s upbringing in the late ’80s acid house movement, paying tribute to its Manchester home and the rave culture that defined it.

Calling school kids and football stans to unite inside abandoned warehouses, the duo crafts a new rave uniform ideal for jamming out to thumping beats until dawn. Looking back to England’s Second Summer of Love phenomenon, the sports-inspired collection is stimulated by vibrant rave graphics. Distorted checkered patterns enhance collared football shirts and work jackets mutually embroidered with co-branded touches. Warped logos are stamped on staple tees and hoodies in blue, neon, and white hues, while game-ready tanks feature vivid rims and Umbro lettering at the chest.

Finally, the partnership debuts the low-top Copley Checkerboard Sneaker that dons a teal suede construction, Umbro’s diamond emblem at the medials, and squared tongue prints.

Take a closer look at the Umbro x MTV collaboration in the gallery above. The range is available now online via Umbro.

Elsewhere, ANOTHER ASPECT opens doors to second Copenhagen flagship store.
