adidas Originals Celebrates Ajax's European Success in New Collection

adidas Originals and Ajax Football Club have just presented a collaborative collection that celebrates Ajax’s three back-to-back Europa Cup I wins in 1971, 1972, and 1973.

As a whole, the collection is a 70s-inspired line and nods to Ajax’s history-defining era of European success with archival design references and vintage details. Starting with a new football jersey, the collection also welcomes a new tracksuit, a quarter-zip top, two T-shirts, and a new Samba footwear design.

The collection highlight comes in the form of the new Bring Back football jersey. Designed with a “White/Red/White” color scheme, the top takes on an oversized silhouette, while the classic Ajax club crest can be spotted in the middle of the chest. Customary adidas Originals branding rounds off the jersey design and this sits alongside Amsterdam’s classic three St. Andrews crosses.

For the collection’s footwear, the new Samba sneaker is designed with a “Crème” hue throughout, while speckles of red are used across the lateral Three Stripe and tongue and heel tab branding. Further details include the adidas Originals logo and Ajax crest on the tongue with St. Andrews crosses being applied to the heel tab. Key parts of the club anthem are added to the sock liner and the coordinates of Ajax’s former stadium, De Meer, hit the right collar lining of the shoe.
