adidas Revisits '90s Football With Its New "Icons" Collection

Featuring reimagined Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Arsenal jerseys.

adidas Football has just presented its all-new “Icons” jersey collection and it features a selection of throwback replica designs for some of its leading clubs and federations.

As a whole, the collection is inspired by the nineties football era that saw a fresh burst of fashionable jerseys that defined style both on and off the pitch. With this in mind, “Icons” explores a selection of retro looks that continue to blur the lines between sporting performance and streetwear.

Each jersey has been designed with an oversized silhouette and glossy finish while the collection’s highlights come in the form of the new Manchester United jersey that is complemented by distressed black and blue line detailing. Furthermore, Italy’s national team home and away jerseys have been revitalized with solid colour blocks and Real Madrid’s versions throw things back with a new all-white design, reminiscent of Figo’s classic number 7 jersey.

The collection also includes a new Celtic kit that taps into adidas’ Equipment era. It reimagines what the green-and-white side of Glasgow may have looked like in the early ’90s through the use of a centralised team badge and diagonal stripes across the front. Another stand-out is the CR Flamengo strip that includes the team’s signature collar and the centrally placed team badge on the front of the shirt.

You can take a closer look at the new “Icons” collection above and it is available to shop via the official adidas website now.
