In 2023, KWK by Kay Kwok is celebrating ten years under the creative director of Kay Kwok, holding a unique showcase at London Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2023. The Shanghai-based label enters the season with a fresh mindset, aiming toward the future with its recognizable avant-garde identity. KWK continues its journey of experimental expression by ditching conservative ideals and replacing them with boundary-breaking motifs pulled from another planet.

For FW23, KWK by Kay Kwok introduces its own dystopian character, “LALA.” The collection tells her life story 100 years in the future, where she has been left behind by her friends and family who fled to an alternate universe as Earth has become inhabitable. As half-human, half-robot, she lives underground to shield herself from unbearable outdoor temperatures alongside her dragon companion, who guides her through the abandoned world.

Futuristic, experimental, and undeniably cutting-edge, KWK by Kay Kwok FW23 presents a preview of possible wardrobe staples for tomorrow, featuring asymmetrical trench coats with protective lining and multi-use pockets, followed by knee-length suede tops that sport semi-sheer shields, strapped kimonos, and clear chest guards. In addition, models carry circular covers with neck and hand openings for swift transportation in battle, while hoodies convert into full-length dresses alongside distressed denim ensembles with a faded finish.

Several models graced the runway with alien masks to mimic the arrival of alternate life on Earth, while dragon molds acted as eloquent tops, and abstract shapes took the form of face covers, outerwear, bottoms, and more.
