British artist, designer, and skateboarder, Blondey McCoy has just just presented a new footwear collaboration with adidas, unveiling a future-facing take on Gary Aspden’s SPEZIAL silhouette.
Since McCoy launched his very own THAMES MMXX imprint, the brand has stood as a label that embraces nostalgia, while continuing to underpin British traditions that fit within the current world of UK streetwear. This identity has found itself encapsulated in skate designs; such as preppy varsity sweaters, contrasted shirts, and even boating sets.
Additionally, this same ethos is embodied in McCoy’s latest collaboration with the Three Stripe, with the duo creating a co-branded sneaker that combines a futuristic approach to performance wear with Aspden’s overarching sense of nostalgia — deep-rooted in terrace culture and British excellence.
As a whole, the sneaker is designed with an earthy color scheme, leaning into hues of brown and green, while a box logo is applied to the tongue on the right shoe. Meanwhile, the suede paneled detailing takes a step into the great outdoors, utilizing durable materials to withstand the harsh realities of the British winter alongside a grippy tread on the sole.
