Grand Seiko Reveals Two Stunning Sunray Dial Timepieces Based on Its “Grammar of Design” Principles

Last month, Grand Seiko revealed the SBGW303 “Autumn Dusk” as an EU-exclusive limited-edition. Following the successful release, the Japanese watch brand has now prepared two stunning 44GS “Grammar of Design” references as the latest addition to its Heritage collection.
As indicated in the watches’ names, both are crafted with the Grand Seiko’s “Grammar of Design” mantra in mind. According to the watchmaker, the “Grammar of Design” consists of three principles: “The design should have flat surfaces and two-dimensional curves. Three-dimensional curves are generally not utilized;” “The flat surfaces of the case, dial and hands should be as wide as possible;” and “Every surface should be distortion-free and have a mirror surface.”
Arriving in a deep blue and white-colored dial, the two watches are housed in 36.5mm-sized stainless steel cases. Spotlighted on the watch faces are sunray-finished dials, which come in an exquisite fan-like texture.
As for movement, the new time-tellers are powered by the in-house mechanical 9S64 caliber, which comes with a power reserve of 72 hours, on top of 10 bars of water resistance. Completing the new timekeepers are matching steel bracelets for a sleek finish that won’t distract from the dials.
Due to release in November, the two new 44GS “Grammar of Design” Sunray Dial watches will feature a price point of £4,900 GBP. For more information, head over to Grand Seiko’s official website.
