Arctic Monkeys Drop New Single "Body Paint"
The second release from their upcoming album ‘The Car.’
The rollout for the new Arctic Monkeys record The Car is well underway, with the four-piece dropping its newest single “Body Paint.”
The followup to the lead single “There’d Better Be A Mirrorball,” which released in late August, “Body Paint” is released with an accompanying music video helmed by Brook Linder and starts off as a ballad-like cut before transforming into a heavier, guitar-laden track. It was first premiered during the group’s show in Brooklyn in last week and arrives just a few days after they announced a 2023 stadium tour, which will see them in Australia, the United Kingdom and Europe between January to June.
In a previous interview with Big Issue, frontman Alex Turner explained that “on this record, sci-fi is off the table. We are back to earth” in comparison to its predecessor Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. “I think we’ve got closer to a better version of a more dynamic overall sound with this record,” he added. “The strings on this record come in and out of focus and that was a deliberate move and hopefully everything has its own space. There’s time the band comes to the front and then the strings come to the front.”
