Apple 以 3.9 億美元投資於 Finisar 激光製造公司

對於已經入手 iPhone X 的用家，相信已逐漸熟習到 Face ID 的功能，雖然以官方說法 Face ID 理論上被其它人解鎖的概率只有 1/1,000,000，遠低於 Touch ID 被破解的概率 1/50,000，但 iPhone X 推出後卻陸續引發不少科技奇趣如雙胞胎成功解鎖，又或是以一個面具成功攻破等，由此可見 iPhone X 的 Face ID 系統仍有不足之處。有見及此 Apple 在週三便宣布計劃投資 3.9 億美元在 Finisar Corp 公司，這公司是現時為 iPhone X True Depth 相機系統中的垂直腔面發射激光器（VCSEL）提供組件。而這筆新投資由 Apple 的 10 億美元先進製造基金（Advanced Manufacturing Fund）提供，將用於在德克薩斯州建造一座工廠，用來生產更多的芯片。而 Apple 首席營運官 Jeff Williams 在聲明中亦表示很高興在未來幾年繼續和 Finisar 合作：

VCSELs power some of the most sophisticated technology we’ve ever developed and we’re thrilled to partner with Finisar over the next several years to push the boundaries of VCSEL technology and the applications they enable,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer. “Technology is only as good as the people behind it, and Finisar is a company with a long history of putting its employees first and supporting the community it’s a part of. We’re extremely proud that our involvement will help transform another American community into a manufacturing powerhouse.

而較早前曾有報道到 Apple 在明年新款 iPad 上或許也會加入 Face ID 的面部識別系統，這次看到 Apple 更加重投資在 Finisar 上，相信是讓 Face ID 有更全面化的發展，亦相信是在其他手機製造商在努力趕上時，Apple 能有更高端的改進。
