Demna Gvasalia may not be a name that everyone is familiar with yet, but he’s definitely been making huge waves in fashion this year. The Georgian-born designer trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium, before proceeding to leading design teams at Maison Martin Margiela and Louis Vuitton. After that, he made a name for himself being a primary designer for hot up-and-coming Parisian brand Vetements. His work at Vetements made it a popular name among the cool fashion crowd, and it even earned a LVMH Young Designer Prize nomination. Gvasalia’s role in fashion was solidified when he was chosen to succeed Alexander Wang as the Creative Director of Balenciaga, expect his first collection for the storied fashion house to be for Fall/Winter 2016, showing in March.
