With both events leading up to the release of her first full-length album #Bangerz, the Nashville-born Cyrus was able to sell through 270,000 copies in the first week after release. A notorious photo shoot with Terry Richardson certainly raised eyebrows, not to mention her choice to spark a joint in Amsterdam at the EDM awards. Visuals for “Wrecking Ball,” “23” and “True and Real” further let us into the mind of Cyrus, further elucidating her vision as a young artist approaching her 21st birthday. Largely reinventing her image in with recent events, it isn’t a stretch to declare that 2013 was a year of transformation for Miley – real name, Destiny Cyrus – possibly signaling a lasting place in the spotlight.
