Jun Takahashi’s roots can be traced to Tokyo’s Bunka Academy of Fashion, where the young designer conceptualized a range of punk-inspired graphic T-shirts that would evolve into the important Ura-Harajuku label UNDERCOVER. Since that moment, UNDERCOVER has sustained a reputation as a label of inspiration within Japanese fashion, partly for Takahashi’s ability to produce designs both unique and progressive. Satisfying his fervor for running, Takahashi next aimed his sights on the GYAKUSOU project with Nike that emphasizes stylistic functionality and of course aesthetics. Approaching its fourth year fusing performance and minimalism, the GYAKUSOU drops grow stronger with each season, and Takahashi’s panache for designing apparel along with them.
