It doesn’t seem fitting to describe the late Goro Takahashi as anything short of an artisan. Electing leather and silver as his mediums of choice, the Japanese artist embraced Native American cues into sought-after jewelry and accessories for most of his career under the name Goro’s. Until this day, his work is still legendary among the backstreets of Harajuku in Tokyo. Takahashi realized his craft through traveling across the United States and learning silver engraving from the Sioux and other groups, going on to handcraft every Goro’s item himself, and as such his passing late in 2013 marked the end of his role as a living embodiment of the brand.
