American painter Thaddeus Strode has teamed up with Mekanism in a special art project. Strode was given full creative control in executing his well known styles and aesthetics which draw inspiration from the likes of rock music, comics, surfing and literature in a hard to describe yet cohesive theme. The collection of decks will be exhibited from May 2nd to May 4th at Berlin’s Charlottenstrasse 2.
Zoo York will be collaborating with the infamous hiphop/hardcore band The Lordz (of Brooklyn). The Lordz are Italian-Americans from Brooklyn who for a long time have been affiliated with graffiti, famous writer “Kaves” is actually a member of the band. The Lordz , as classy New Yorkers have been associated with Stash, House of Pain, viewed on Bape TV and now featured on Zoo York. This collaboration is limited to 500 decks and Tees. Support these true New Yorkers and their contribution to the underground.
One of San Francisco’s finest, Jeremy Fish has released his latest offerings of skate decks. Last year saw his superFishal’s inaugural release of collaborative decks with artists including Pushead, Todd Bratrud and Michael Sieben. His solo efforts seen here for spring 2008 include the designs “Flowers, “The Friend” and “The Face”. The decks are available for sale now either individually or through a 3-pack at Upper Playground, priced respecitvely at $80 USD / deck or $210 USD / set of 3.
FTC’s Tokyo branch has released two new products to commemorate their first year of business. The products feature a t-shirt and skate deck both sharing the same style of design and coloring. However a further accompaniment of new items as part of their spring/summer collection is also slated to release including tees and jackets.
Continuing with their ongoing series of artist designed collaborations, Supreme has looked to American artist and photographer Marilyn Minter to create a series of skate decks by the controversial artist. Her rise to prominence started in 1989 where her debut show was inspired by hardcore pornography drawing a barrage of criticism from feminists. However, Minter continued on utilizing pornographic imagery and beauty advertisements together. The decks will release April 10th in New York and Los Angeles (April 17th online) while Japan will see an April 12th release.
