As winners of the NBA’s first draft lottery, the New York Knicks selected seven footer Patrick Ewing to cornerstone their team. Despite not paying dividends in the form of titles, the big man became an unforgettable member of New York’s die hard basketball community for the next 15 years. For 2008, New York will once again look to the basketball gods in hopes of securing something good on Tuesday, May 20th. In a similar spirit to an event that started last year, one day before the official draft, Classic Kicks will host their own lottery drawing on May 19th with the release of a No Mas x Puma First Round modeled in classic New York colors. Participants will be given the opportunity to score a life size portrait of New York’s former captain, Patrick Ewing. RSVP’s are required at email@example.com

PUMA and No Mas have been teaming up in 2008 with releases of the PUMA X No Mas First Round LA and LE (Boston) to further celebrate last year’s exhibition of “The Lottery”. This month, the PUMA First Round is inspired by the city of Seattle.
Highlights of the PUMA x No Mas First Round Seattle include a green and yellow colorway with a white on white leather with embroidered lottery balls, three sets of laces with “No Mas” branding on the lace tips and the outsole.
A very limited number of pairs will drop exclusively at GOODS Seattle on Wednesday, April 30th.
As previously shown, No Mas is continuing their collaboration with Puma. The latest drop in the sports inspired brand’s First Round Lottery saga will be a New York Knicks colorway. Featured is the familiar lottery ball print upper combined with blue and orange suede. No exact release date has been set.
Despite an inherent simplicity to their designs, much of No Mas’ designs reference important sporting events of the past. It’s these events and references that bring forth an interesting reflection and association. Here’s a small preview of the 2008 Summer/Fall collection from No Mas.
Continuing with No Mas and Puma’s “Lottery” collaboration is the Boston First Rounds. This time the sneaker is dedicated to the Boston Celtics superstar Reggie Lewis and thus you will see details that reflect that such as the green accents as well as an RIP armband on the heel. It also features an embroidered lottery ball pattern on the upper similar to the LA First Round. This shoe will be available in limited quantities starting March 17th only at Bodega.
