Samsung is a global South Korean technology company originally founded in 1938, in the eastern city of Daegu in the former Japanese Korea. Today, the company and its affiliates are said to produce around a fifth of South Korea’s total exports, including mobile phones, televisions, and a wide range of consumer and industrial electronics. As of 2017, Samsung had the 6th highest brand value in the world.
