[Quote] i've done it twice to europe. loved every second of it, even the awkward solo moments/trying to make friends with random people parts.   really makes you step outside of your comfort zone(s) and do things you wouldn't normally do in your everyday life. you gravitate towards other people whether its waiters, concierge, taxi driver, bartenders, etc. helps you get comfortable with being by yourself without being distracted from your phone/other people (didnt have phone service). youll discover things about yourself with all the "me" time youll have. its fun as hell. you are by yourself so you have to be smart about the things you do, ie drinking/partying. you'll probably meet some cool fellow travelers that will watch out for you but never put 100 on that. you never know so always stay trucha. staying at a hostel is a must, you'll meet many solo travelers as well. argentineans and aussies are the dopest.  if youre a guy, most girls that i met abroad love the fact that im traveling alone. its definitely less intimidating for them to talk to you than if you were with some of your boys. you just naturally start to have way more confidence. my 2 cents. tldr: +10 confidence. +20 people skills. -10 ego.

Advice for high school kids.

go hard in extra curricular activities. if you think you can get by, by following your high schools' curriculum and then your college's curriculum, you'll need more skills than that to really get "ahead" and stay ahead. america's education system is the bare minimum, so if you dont have a set of amazing parents or best friends that were raised by amazing parents and have their head on really "straight," you need to get shit done on your own.  speech and debate. if my high school experience was anything like yours, only the "nerds" were in this. those guys are now making buku. the way you are able to express your ideas and the confidence you have in being vocal will help you like no other in college/professional world. communication skills are key. sports. play a sport to get in shape, stay in shape, and look good. you also learn a lot about team/hard work, sacrifice, and gain confidence. if youre actually trying to pursue a career in sports, all your time, heart, and mind should be put into that. there's thousands of other "kids" out there puttin in work while youre playing video games and/or being lazy. you gotta devote most of your time honing your skills so you can be the best (cliche, i know).  also, stop playing video games. if youre over 21 (i would say 16) and still playing video games and not REALLY pursuing a career in video games then wtf are you doing. youre wasting your time by doing something that, as a person, isnt helping you move forward in life and goals. anything in life that either keeps you stagnate or moves you backwards is a big fucken waste of time (i cant make myself more clear).  leisure reading. read shit thatll make you a better person, open your mind, help you see things from a different perspective and gain knowledge (philosophy). knowledge is power. instead of butt ass video games, read knowledge. some recommendations of mine...  aldous huxley - perennial philosophy http://www.amazon.com/The-Perennial-Philosophy-Interpretation-Mystics/dp/0061724947/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412806349&sr=8-1&keywords=aldous+huxley+perennial+philosophy dale carnegie - how to win friends and influence people http://www.amazon.com/How-Win-Friends-Influence-People/dp/0671027034/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412806402&sr=8-1&keywords=how+to+make+friends friedrich nietzsche - thus spoke zarathustra http://www.amazon.com/Thus-Spoke-Zarathustra-Friedrich-Nietzsche/dp/1499527683/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412806482&sr=8-1&keywords=thus+spoke ralph waldo emerson - the essential writings http://www.amazon.com/Essential-Writings-Emerson-Library-Classics/dp/0679783229/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412806564&sr=8-1&keywords=emerson if youre curious about psychedelics ... timothy leary - the psychedelic experience http://www.amazon.com/The-Psychedelic-Experience-Tibetan-Underground/dp/0806516526/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412806704&sr=8-1&keywords=timothy+leary as for drugs/alcohol.. everything in moderation. psychedelics transformed me as a person. i wish i wouldve done them at a younger age but then at the same time, i dont know if i wouldve been able to realize wtf i was doing as a "kid" and really took in the experience as i did when i was more mature. do your research and do them in the right settings with your best friends and i feel you can really gain a lot from them if your mindset is in the right place to fully appreciate the spiritual aspect of what youre doing. soak it all in. tl;dr. dont play video games. play sports, get buff, leisure reading.  EDIT: if you got an uncle(aunt), GRANDPA, family friend, pops, cousin, older bro/sister that knows carpentry, metal work, automotive, computer programming, landscaping, coaching, etc (basically any LEGAL skill thatll make you money as you grow older) take the time to learn from them first hand. shit like that can be something you can make money from on the side while you work towards your goal as a "profressional". having money on the side is always good especially if it's something you like doing. bonus: the time you spend with you GRANDPA (mad knowledge) will be invaluable. some of my best times of my life were spent working on cars with my grandpa on saturday/sunday mornings as a kid. he's passed away now and the only thing i regret is not working and learning more. youtube alan watts/jason silva. both those guys drop mad knowledge on life. jason silva is a more moden cat that has helped me see the potential of human potentiality, among others.  use the internet to your advantage. stop using that shit for the newest clothes/gossip. dont waste your time on shit like that.
