Hey, What I meant by "I'd definitely take that as a lease to showing so many people from different walks of life showing and wearing your socks" is broadening who you have wearing your socks in your marketing material so far it's business professional, bsiness casual and all male driven. I think to get a greater reception of the brand message you should open it out abit more, group shots of people in society, different walks of life(surgion, cleaner, barrister, skater, blogger, photographer, lawyer, musician, mum, dad, grandad etc) all wearing your socks. I think it's important to say "Designed in Canada" because if Canada is anything like the UK I know people like buying into their own. Since I've seen a few shots of you doing what looks like in-stores I'm sure thats bound to help even by the smallest of margins. Its importand to have some indication of what you've given and maybe its worth setting a target so customers are incentivised to buy more in order to give. Whats even more important is to get your narrative across for customer acquisition and retention. Maybe we don't give away numbers but make a spectacle of the size of the drop offs. That way once you've finished you can say we want to give away double next month and really need your help to do so. Though I know another sock brand I don't know about another one giving and wouldn't really care if you communicated your story well and your product was good and unique. "Getting good traffic to our site is always challenging. Do you spend most of your time growing social media, SEO, blogs, partnerships, etc? Or do you skip the internet and pursue wholesale? While it's obviously challenging that is what makes the company enjoyable to run!" This must be really hard web analytics and big data are so hard to interpret but you've been putting in leg work too by getting into stores which I like. I definitely want to see where you take it from here. Its challenging indeed but the prospects of grabbing a sizeable chunk of the market seems tangible. Keep me posted on how that goes.

Edit: Wrote this a while ago but for some reason it was blocked. Luckily I pasted it into a word doc that i just recovered. Hey, Just checked out your site and instagram to get a good picture of your business. Firstly, congratulations! I'm sure putting all this together couldn't of been easy. It looks like you've managed to do loads in a space of a year. It's great to hear that you used the social entrepreneurship model on day one of your business given the fact that I've also heard charities say that that socks are the least donated item. Now the critique; -You're called Society Socks but most of your marketing leans towards a very formal/business styling. I think of what your business represents as saying "Society SUCKS!" but you're actually doing something about it. I'd definitely take that as a lease to showing so many people from different walks of life showing and wearing your socks. Picture a train carriage on the weekend. Everybody on it could all be wearing your socks from retired teacher, to young couple, to wedding goers, to hypebeasts. A broad range of society so you can bring the point home that they can all make the change. -I don't see any evidence of any giving. Which would reassure me that your doing what you say you are and make me more inclined to buy. -I don't think the giving part is clear enough on your website. Bold 'socks delivered monthly' possibly shouldn't be in bold. I think it needs reworking. -I agree with 1978S the socks do look like every other sock company so maybe focus on communicating your USP. The giving back part. -these layout/essentials like shots don't do anything for me. I want to see them worn and being lived in. - Be playful, they are bold socks after all e.g Dancing on hard wood floor after kicking my shoes off after work, playing footsie with a date under the dinner table, tap dancing, cycling, playing football(soccer), golf, girls feet on the bonnet on a road trip, watching tv, having breakfast at the kitchen counter...etc. Tonnes of playful marketing shots to introduce some character and a social narrative. Don't forget to include the ladies, they wear socks too. -Video could work for all the above and differentiate you from the pack. Get some Diddy 90s slow mo when it comes to the money socks!(see what I did there money shots) Here's for some questions; -Where are the socks manufactured? Are they 100% cotton? Consumers like to know these things or at least I do -Why did you choose the Covenant House Toronto of all charities? -How many pairs of socks have you given away so far? -Whats been the hardest part so far? -How much does it cost for a website like that? All in all it looks like you have plenty of room to grow. a lot more hustling to go

Which 7” Tablet? Official Discussion Thread

@MindEraser I'm considering getting an iPad mini with 4G and keeping my phone really simple like a basic nokia to just call and text. I see it becoming the most primary surfing tool for me for websites, rss feeds, emails, social media, comms; skype, whats app, imessage and hopefully that will increase my productivity on my mac (buyers rationalization!). Not forgetting primary camera, navigation and ereader. I think the size will be idea for this .The trouble here is how the battery will cope. @chopzz that modification sounds cool but troublesome. As for NFC I think its early days and will seldom get used, it sounds cool but if I'm the only adopter amongst my peers its going to suck. I like the idea of posters having it and the interactivity but i don't think its going to take off anytime soon.

I think the 7 inch market is all a response to the e-ink ebook adopters that want a device that can do a lot more while still being easily portable (hand bags, coat pockets). iPad pros; user experience wealth of apps 5MP rear camera 4G LTE option iPad cons: screen resolution poor maps in ios6 Kindle Fire HD pros: HDMI out optimised for reading screen resolution Kindle Fire HD: closed os limited apps Nexus 7 pros: GPS maps screen resolution NFC Nexus 7 cons: stretched phone apps What to use NFC for at the moment
What does this enable you to do? And what uses are there for NFC as we speak?

Which 7” Tablet? Official Discussion Thread

@big-perm Your probably right about the likely omission of HDMI out but it would be great. I'm guessing they'd never do it because it would kill apple tv. This video has swayed me to the Kindle Fire HD in the Nexus 7 vs Kindle Fire HD fight. [Embed content] If you guys had to choose between the two(Kindle Fire HD and Nexus 7) what and why? GPS vs HDMI out 16GB vs 32GB NFC vs no-gap lamination techniques and antiglare polarization to dial in the readability

Which 7” Tablet? Official Discussion Thread

@traggi I can only answer for myself but I had a kindle keyboard that I got a refund for due to a defect so I decided to hold out before replacing it. The logical step would be to get another bottom line e-reader but there's a lot out there for just a few £s more than what I originally spent on my kindle (£119). Another reason is I've had smartphones for the past 10 years going all the way back to the Pogo. [Image] But most phones don't make for good reading, plus I don't think all the features phones have can co-exist with all the battery drainage that takes place. With a 7" device u get a better experience; visually, watching movies, reading magazines, websites, better form factor for reading books than a 10" or 4" and the very primary function isn't jeopadised because you decide what that is. With the Kindle HD having a HDMI out port it also becomes a pretty good potable media center. I'm still waiting for Apple's offering, I'll give it until the end of October. The features they must have to beat the competition are; 1. Retina display 326ppi 2. HDMI out 3. GPS 4. 32GB + That would be a dream but it is likely to be priced between £329 and £399 (ipod touch and ipad) without 4G LTE (expensive). Hope it happens

[Image] The 7" tablet market is heating up. Set alight initially by the Kindle Fire, then the Google Nexus 7 and now rumors of a forthcoming iPad Mini next month (Sept. 12th), What does the future have install for us? Wait, why does no one mention the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0? It also comes in a version that doubles as a phone (P3100), with expandable storage, dual cameras, GPS, full Android Market, it's a real killer. Why settle for less? No matter what android version their running, they'll be cracked and hacked in no time. What does Apple have to offer and at what price? The polls up, which 7inch tablet would you choose and why?

Buying Backpacks

That backpack looks way to big(nike SB eugene). I think for a laptop backpack it needs to be utilitarian but also sheek, for me that is. I used to have a black samsonite sahora that was sweet..
